Eating disorders are serious mental health conditions and are common in females because they are more conscious than men about their body image. However, it can affect man too. Most people developed one or more types of eating disorders at some point in their life and more than 70 percent of them are women. Commonly, females are highly dissatisfied with their body perception. Females have a nature that can be easily influenced, they want to be appreciated, loved as other women who have a perfect body. Women between the age of 12 and 35 have high chances of developing an eating disorder. Any sexual orientation can have an eating disorder.

If a culture promotes thin body:
Some cultures promote a thin body as ideal. Culture is not something just in your head, it defines who you are, whatever your limits, what will you do in the future, how you will going to react on a specific matter. If you are growing in a culture having beauty parameters as only if you are thin you will be considered beautiful. If you are thick then you are not qualified for their beauty parameters. Culture influences you and that’s why people ended up having some kind of eating disorder. So, to cope with the pressure from your cultural influence, do start something opposite, getting comfortable in your skin is the best method for it.
Lack of confidence and low self-esteem:
Person child experiences when they did not have any moral support, their life experiences of failure, when they were alone, negative self-perception of the body leads them to have zero confidence about themselves, so it is might possible they develop some type of eating disorder or any other psychological issue.
Such kind of person is already going through a lot, just a little stimulus (the bad compliment from anyone) will make things worse because they are already insecure about themselves and anything can be triggered them to adopt an unhealthy routine of eating, and females are more sensitive than a man to they might get some type of eating disorder.
Bullying:
When someone Is trying to harm or attack others is called bullying. Bulling is not just Physical it is way more than physical. The victim suffered from psychological illness too. When you are emotionally hurt it is might possible you develop one eating disorder.
Sexual Abuse:
When one person took sexual advantage of another person is not just sexual harassment that causes physically hurt, it is beyond physical abuse, it causes some serious mental issues in victims. And females are the one who became victim most of the time from sexual harassment, and they develop some other or eating disorders, that’s the main reason eating disorder is more common in females
Anxiety:
In anxiety, people start to eat more than usual, the social pressure, peer company who adopt the unhealthy lifestyle it will lead you to do the same to fit in the society and your peer group. Females having more issues while adjusting somewhere new, and they became anxious so easily over small things, so eating disorders are more common in females.
