Effective skin care tips for winter season to avoid breakouts

Your skin is one of the essential body parts. It needs care like all other sensitive organs. Even though it is one of the most essential organs and biggest too, people hardly ever pay attention to it. Skin is exposed to the environment more than any other organ and therefore it requires extensive care. Winter damages skin and makes it dry. Therefore, it requires special care during the winter season. Not everyone can afford expensive skin treatments and hence following are some skin care tips to avoid severe breakouts.

Hydration

Keep yourself hydrated. Drink at least 8 glasses of water throughout the day. Your skin needs moisture inside out and it is only possible if you drink enough water. You can also add a few drops of lemon in lukewarm water and drink it to feel refreshed. If you are someone who doesn’t enjoy drinking water then make some juice and have it. Or you can have yogurt or watery fruits and vegetables like watermelon and cucumber.

Wash with lukewarm water

Everyone loves to take hot water baths in winter but sadly enough, it is damaging to the skin. Use lukewarm water instead whenever you have to take a shower or wash your face. This will avoid drying out the natural moisture of your skin, unlike the hot water. Cold water is the best for the skin but it is not possible to use cold water in the winter season so lukewarm water is the best option.

Regular moisturizing

One of the most important things to keep in mind is regularly moisturizing your skin. Moisturize at least three times a day that is 1) before going to sleep, 2) after waking up and 3) immediately after taking a shower or washing your face. The third one is the most important since the skin gets dried out when washed. For your feet, moisturize them thoroughly before going to bed and cover them with soft cotton socks to keep the moisture intact.

Careful choice of skin care products

Wisely pick your moisturizer. Keep your skin type in mind and choose the moisturizer accordingly. If your moisturizer causes rashes, patches, or itchiness on your skin, change it immediately. Consult a dermatologist for suitable recommendations if you can’t find one yourself. Always make sure that you do a patch test before using any skin care product to avoid allergic reactions. Just like not all the skin care tips can suit you, all the products might also not be suitable.

Exfoliate

Most people don’t realize the importance of exfoliation for the skin and lips. In winter especially, exfoliation helps to remove the dead skin cells layer and makes your skin look super soft. Since the dead skin does not let the moisturizer reach the layer beneath it, therefore no amount of moisturizer ever seems to be enough. You can easily get exfoliating creams from the market. There are separate creams for both hands and feet both.

Homemade DIY Masks

Try out different homemade DIY masks that nourish and moisturize the skin. Since these masks can be easily made at home simply with the materials in your kitchen, therefore, they are economical and everyone can easily avail their benefits. Also, as these masks are made from natural products they are more effective than the expensive creams and lotions available at stores.

Protect

Protect your skin at all costs. Use scarves, socks, and gloves to protect your neck, feet, and hands when you leave your house. To protect your face, use sunscreen all the time when you are outside. The Winter sun is equally damaging as the summer sun, therefore, the skin needs equal protection from it as well.

These are the basic, easiest, and extremely economical skin care tips to make your skin glow even in winter. Now you do not have to worry about spending extra money on dermatologists and expensive skincare products.
